1960 Morris Minor Pick Up
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Designed by Alec Issigonis, the genius behind the Mini,
the Minor was known for its excellent handling,
which featured rack-and-pinion steering and independent
front suspension by torsion bars.
The extra-wide stance also helped.
Minors were built in a number of variations,
including sedans, convertibles, panel deliverys, and pickups.
Due to the nature of their work,
the life of small pick-up trucks has always been extremely hard,
often entailing continuous stop-start work and overloading
which took a heavy toll on mechanical components.
So, over the years, their ranks have dwindled alarmingly.
Today, survivors are always in demand as in many cases
they prove ideal for business promotion and
advertising as well as still being particularly useful.
The Morris Minor pick-up truck was particularly durable, benefiting from
a
separate chassis which gave it a distinct advantage over many of its competitors
and allied to the legendary reliability it was to prove extremely popular.
This 1960 Morris Minor pick-up has been professionally restored during 2005.
It drives perfectly. Finished in green with brown seats,
it is of extremely smart appearance and the equipment
includes a tonneau cover for the load area.
